For some situations, only a mesh banner will do. Here's when you absolutely need one.
What Is a Mesh Banner?
Mesh banners are perforated PVC they look solid from 30 feet away, but up close you can see thousands of tiny holes. Typical mesh: 350 GSM PVC with ~35% open area.
Why Those Holes Matter
Wind passes through instead of catching it like a sail.
When You Need Mesh
1. Scaffolding Wraps
Scaffold contractors won't even let you fix solid vinyl to a scaffold they require mesh.
2. Construction Hoarding
Exposure to wind, rain and sun destroys solid PVC in 6-18 months. Mesh holds up.
3. Fence-Line Banners
Along chain-link fencing in exposed locations.
4. Stadium & Event Perimeters
Outdoor sport venue hoardings and festival perimeters.
5. Tall Fence Panels
Solid vinyl above 1.5m becomes structurally risky in wind.
When You Do NOT Need Mesh
- Indoor events holes let light through
- Shop fronts solid looks sharper
- Birthday/wedding banners solid is cleaner
- Walls (mounted flush)
The Colour Trade-Off
Mesh prints slightly softer. Minimal at viewing distance but noticeable close up.
