A well-cared-for PVC banner lasts for years. Here's how to make yours last.
Wipe with warm water and a soft microfibre. No bleach, no pressure washer, no scourers. Roll (never fold) with the print facing outward, store in a cool dry cardboard tube, out of direct sun.
Cleaning, Light
- Wipe down with a damp microfibre cloth
- Warm water only, no detergent
- Dry with a dry cloth before storing
For dirt or marks
- Warm water + mild washing-up liquid
- Soft sponge, no abrasives
- Rinse and dry fully
Do NOT use
- Bleach or harsh solvents
- Pressure washers
- Wire brushes or scourers
- White spirit, acetone, nail varnish remover
A pressure washer will strip the print in seconds. Gentle care is not optional, it is the whole job.
Stubborn marks like bird droppings or tree sap
Soak with warm water for 10 minutes first, then wipe with washing up liquid. Never scrape when dry, you will lift the ink.
Storage, The Golden Rule: Roll, Don't Fold
PVC creases permanently where it folds. Always roll with the printed side facing outwards.
How to Roll
- Lay flat, print side up
- Start rolling from one short edge
- Roll loosely, tube diameter 5β8cm
- Tie with string/tape, not rubber bands
Storage Conditions
- Cool, dry place, garage is fine
- Out of direct sunlight
- Don't stack weights on top
- Original cardboard tube is ideal
Reviving a Creased Banner
Lay flat in the sun for a few hours. Gentle heat relaxes PVC.
Fold a PVC banner once and the crease is forever. Roll it, tape it, stash it. Three minutes of care saves a reprint.
Deeper creases from long folds
Pair the sun trick with a warm (not hot) hair dryer on the reverse. Stretch the banner gently while it relaxes. Stop the moment it softens.
